Meet Flicka! Our little painted princess.

Some dogs simply have a look about them that makes them unforgettable — and for us, that was Flicka.

​

Her name was inspired by one of my favourite horse movies growing up, Flicka. I have always had a deep love for horses, and when our beautiful Piebald Dapple girl was born, her markings immediately reminded me of a little painted horse. It felt as though she had chosen her own name. Flicka is also a Swedish word meaning “little girl”, which made it even more perfect for our sweet little girl with the spirit of a horse.

Flicka is loving, gentle and incredibly affectionate. The closer she can be to you, the better! She is the kind of Dachshund who wants to be right beside you, preferably touching you at all times. And although she is quite a small girl, she somehow manages to take up every inch of a king-size bed — because apparently, sharing is not part of her vocabulary!

But don't let her cuddly side fool you. Flicka is also a lively little hunter with plenty of personality. She loves chasing after the monkeys and can often be found jumping in and out of our pot plants, exploring and investigating everything around her. She is curious, cheeky and always ready for her next little adventure.

Flicka is the perfect combination of sweet, loving and lively, with just enough mischief to keep us smiling. She may be our little “girl” by name, but she certainly has the heart and spirit of a wild little horse.
